Vacation

March 2, 2009 by motivatemindy

I was on vacation for the week of February 21-February 28.  What a great week.  As far as workouts go, I did take my pedometer.  I walked on the beach and logged 9 miles walked.  I also played golf 2 times.  It was so fun.  However, I still gained some weight, but I was on vacation so I did indulge quite a bit on yummy food.  Now that I am back to reality I will try to indulge less and move more.  I will take Jess’ running advice.  However, I might have to make my running intervals less than a minute, and work my way up.  Right before vacation I bought some really nice shoes.  Maybe that will help.

Positive thoughts (great idea Val):

1. had a wonderful vacation and got lots of natural vitamin D.

2. I made the most awesome sandwich today.  It had hummus on it.

3. I am moving into a new office this week.  It has a window!

4. I talked to Lynn and Maxwell on the phone last night.

5. THis weekend is supposed to warm into the 50’s.

Ok the past weekend was pretty good for me.  I have not gotten in the swing of my pilates or excersise ball yet.  However, I am really gaining an affinity for my walks.  Usuall, I go for my long walk on Friday.  It feels really good and I just like listening to my music and thinking all by myself.  Now I am trying to add shorter walks on Saturday and Sunday. They are barely worth mentioning, but they keep me moving and I look forward to them.

Jess, you may appreciate this.  Once in a while I get the urge to run.  I think oh I’ll just jog for a little bit.  THen I start and barely last a minute.  How the hell do you do that?  It hurts!

On track, again

I have a feeling I will be on and off track with my goals throughout the year.  Please be patient with me.  I was really discouraged becauseI had felt that the last week of January I moved quite a bit.  However, I have slowly been gaining weight and that week was no exception.  I figured losing some lbs would be an added bonus to the movement I was engaging in.  I finally stopped sulking.  Last Friday I did the 6 mile walk and it was beautifulThere was still enough snow to be pretty, but not so much that I couldn’t walk.  the sun was shining and just bouncing off of the snow.  It was invigorating.

Slacker

I have logged barely any movement the past week.  I was feeling very bad about myself.  That is no good since I started this to feel better about myself.  Then I did some cognitive restructuring.  Instead of dwelling on all the goals I have not been keeping up on, I started to realize these are goals I set for the whole year.  I don’t have to accomplish all I want to right away.  I am going to forgive myself and start focusing on eventually reaching my goal.

Oh and by the way, Jess, the other day I said something about pilates not being that hard for me…. well, I stepped up to a different tape on Friday.  It is hard.

Freezing Temps

January 16, 2009 by motivatemindy

So far this week, I have been able to wake up to complete pilates one time and my excersise ball routine one time.  Today my butt cheeks are sore.  I like it and I think it is a motivating factor. Is that wierd?  I know my butt does not look toned after one workout, but since it is sore, it feels firm.  Psychological  Tomorrow is the day I have designated to do my long out door walk.  However, the temps here are very cold.  I don’t want to be a wimp, but I don’t want to get hypothermia either.  I am not sure I have the right clothing to do the walk safely.  hmmm.  I could substitute something else… well we will see.

so far…

Well today is Sunday.  I had a very sore back yesterday and just a little sore today.  I did a lot of stretching.  Today I had to buck up because there was more than a foot of snow in my drive way.  I got about haof of it done and then someone came by and offered to plow.  I took him up on that offer, but I do feel so much better than yesterday.  I will continue with my goals this week.

Jessica, we will see about the whole running thing.  I will focus on walking for a while.  And as far as swimming goes, it has been such a long time since  I swam regularly, but I see your point.  And Biking? Not very proficient in that either.  However, you have already encouraged me to go this far so maybe some day.  We will see.

My Year of Fitness Attempt

January 10, 2009 by motivatemindy

After a lot of thought, I decided to join the year of fitness challenge.  It took a lot of thought because my level of fitness and ability is way below those who have inspired me to do this (Reese Siblings).  After reading your goals for the year I really wished I could do all of the things you had listed or at least be able to train to do them.  Let’s be realistic, I am not a runner and would never live through a marathon let alone a triathalon.  However, I decided I will lower the standards set by those before me and make my own goals.  I have thought a lot about my goals because I want them to be realistic for me yet a bit of a challenge.  Maybe if I can make it through this year and stay motivated to stick to my goals, next year I will be a step closer to the Reese family fitness abilities, yeah right.  I will settle for a healthier happier me.
